Monsummano Terme is a beautiful and interesting Spa in Tuscany – by many seen just as a kind of annex to better known Montecatini, a perception certainly not appropriate.

Some kilometers from Montecatini lies this town with about 20000 inhabitants; sounds like a larger town, Monsummano however could be seen as a nice little place without major cities’ airs and graces and certainly not eager for glamour. With its vicinity to motorway Firenze-Mare in excellent location as starting position for any visits and trips all over Tuscany.

WHAT DOES CHARACTERIZE MONSUMMANO
First of all Spa facilities of a certain uniqueness. Next to a large outdoor thermal pool famous Grotta Giusti with its 3 underground caverns of different water temperatures offers a truly unique attractiveness. Giuseppe Verdi once called them the “8th wonder of the world”, perhaps very poetically expressed but in essence quite true.

In closest vicinity lies the little village of Montevettolini with a beautiful Medici period villa of late 17th century – one of the 17 Medici villas that famous painter Giusto Utens has immortalized in 17 lunette shape paintings. 14 of them are still in existence and can be seen in Florence museum “Museo di Firenze com’era” – or purchased as color prints, quite decorative with their half-moon shape.

Furthermore Montevettolini is the scenery for the well-known golf course of Montecatini, a course built into the Tuscan landscape in a particularly nice way, quite challenging but an experience for golfers of all categories.

And last but not least Monsummano Terme is characterized by a large number of splendid properties and villas in this area, most of them in the pleasant soft hills towards North and East and most of them in outstanding panorama locations, the majority of great elegance and with their pools in spectacular positions offering special charm.
