Wine olive oil & more

In the Lucchese hills, where the famous villas are located, there is also our winery recommendation in the area Lucca, we know the estate already over 25 years – wine tasting province Lucca.
There is the “Strada del Vino“, the famous wine road of the Lucchesia, which runs North of the motorway and above Lucca in the hills – from Marlia via Montecarlo to Montecatini. The wineries are located along these specially marked roads, almost all of them offering wine tasting. At these altitudes there are also large olive groves, so it is possible to taste both delicacies.

Below Montecarlo lies the renowned Buonamico winery. Here you can taste the wines with the gourmet home cooking. A futuristic noble restaurant with a lot of glass and style. Overlooking the Tuscany countryside amidst vineyards.

Wine tasting in Pisa – perhaps with a visit to Volterra or San Gimignano.

Zitrus Garden – Yes, you guessed right, this is citrus fruit! Hardly in any other area of Italy was the culture of mainly lemons in terracotta vases as passionately practiced as in the province of Lucca.
Now that we are in the area, you can also visit the village of Collodi, only 2 km away.
– And here of course the Pinocchio Park, as well as in the remarkable Villa Garzoni with the butterfly house and the old village Collodi, which slowly crawls up the mountain ridge.

Sea and beaches of Lucca

Free beach at South Versilia coast – seaside at Lucca and Pisa in the dunes

Not to forget the sea & beaches, Lucca is only a stone’s throw away from the sea. Long sandy beaches of Versilia that stretch from Carrara to Torre di Lago.
Via Camaiore we get from Lucca directly to Viareggio, the former bathing resort of Lucca with its Art Nouveau villas and the large marina – today known all over the world. Via the motorway we get tu the sea in some 20 min. from Lucca. From here you can make a detour to Forte dei Marmi, the mundane seaside resort on the Versilia coast or to Torre di Lago. At the latter one can visit the house of the master Puccini, it is also his mausoleum. At Lago di Massaciuccoli you can enjoy the beautiful lake on the promenade. With clear weather, the foothills of the Apennines can be seen razor sharp.

Garfagnana

Garfagnana Lucca’s Sleeping Beauty – foothills of the Apennines, wild romantic area with huge chestnut forests and in the Northern part nature reserve. Routes along the Serchio (river). Most famous is probably Bagni di Lucca, Heinrich Heine once also cured here and of course he also made Bagni di Lucca literary famous at that time.

The city of Barga is very urban and is majestically situated in the Garfagnana mountains. It is the summer residence in the mountains of the wealthy Lucca citizens.
Not to forget the Chestnut Museum in Colognora Garfagnana.
